Our Mission

"Respecting and supporting the dignity of all individuals to live and work in a free and unbiased society, while teaching and supporting the responsibilities that come with living in that society."

ILC, LLC is devoted to providing the highest quality of life possible to people of all different abilities.  We do this by providing services to six fully-staffed Corporate Adult Family Homes (C-AFH) and a Community Supported Living (CSL) program within the city of La Crosse.

Our interdisciplinary team combines experiences and academic studies in special education, community health, human resources, psychology, disability services, communication, accounting, and business; we work together to provide insight into a multitude of challenges which members face in their daily lives, providing the best solutions possible.

Our Values

Customer Intimacy: Knowing and responding to our customers’ needs and choices. To accomplish this, we must acquire the trust of our customers.

Quality Services: Achieving customer satisfaction, earning customer trust, realizing our mission, and living our values.

Order: Providing stability and quality by promoting structure, predictability, and consistency in our processes and systems. Our mission and our value of customer intimacy require change and responsiveness in our services, but organizational stability is also necessary in an environment of growth and change.

Profitability: Maximizing profitability and financial stability while realizing our other values.

Hard Work and Mutual Support: We expect employees to work hard, help each other out, and support each other’s growth. Supporting growth includes challenging and encouraging other employees to succeed and excel.

Flexibility: Adjusting and changing our services to meet the choices of our customers is vital to our survival. To achieve this, all employees must remain extremely flexible. Let it be known, we also strive to be flexible for our employees, except when doing so would compromise the achievement of our mission and service values.

A Positive Corporate Climate: We want to be a good company to work for. To fulfill this goal, we need each person to do her or his job well and grow both personally and professionally. Always remember to have a positive attitude, as it has an effect on your service delivery.

History

ILC is a LLC specializing in providing community living support to adults who have disabilities. We assist people with disabilities to live in ways that are meaningful, safe, and productive. Most of our funding is provided through government contracts involving federal, state, and county support.

Originally known as Independent Living Choices, Inc., the company was founded by Shirley Koepke in 2003. We began with one member two hours a day, five days per week, with Shirley as the sole employee. Her agency quickly grew with her reputation; within one year, Independent Living Choices, Inc. had expanded to include three adult family homes. Today, ILC consists of six licensed adult family homes and a community supported living program.

Shirley retired in 2021 and sold the company to it’s most qualified members . The company got a addition of LLC. instead of Inc. and is overseen by a group of three partners , but our mission, vision and values remain the same. We strive to continue Shirley's legacy, to continue providing the highest quality services to our members, and to be an employer of choice in the Coulee Region.

About Our Logo

The Star represents the individuals we support.  The individual is the one we strive to understand and respect by promoting a quality of life that most meets the quality of life we all hope to attain as members of a free and equal society. The individual, having been identified as needing an advocate to assure this quality of life, is the focus of this agency.

The Heart represents our direct care workers.  We are dedicated to educating and training our direct care workers in the knowledge and skills they need in order to be advocates for the individuals we support.  As an employer, we strive to address those basic needs that employees expect of any business entity.  Above this basic expectation, this agency recognizes that the direct care worker is truly the heart of the agency.

The Hand represents the entire team advocating for the individuals we support.  As an agency, ILC strives to develop and promote a team approach to meeting the needs and choices of the individuals.  This team approach is truly the key to success in being the advocate.
